Peter Lamuren Foundation (PLF) is a Non-Governmental, non-profit organisation established in October 2012 to encourage and foster the interest of secondary school students in the study of Mathematics and the sciences (Physics, Chemistry and Biology).
At PLF, we believe strongly that science has, and continues to play a pivotal role in the sustained existence of the human race, and hardly anything is possible or achievable without the sciences. Our world is powered by the all-embracing influence of science and technology.
We come across science in everyday things in the world around us, both living and non-living. Creating and sustaining the interest of our pupils in the sciences and helping them to understand early, the importance of the sciences in our lives and our environment should be a major concern of all stakeholders in our educational system.
The three major science subjects namely Biology, Chemistry and Physics are worth learning with passion from the early stages of life. Biology is the science of living things which enables students to learn about plants and animals including humans, the environment and how to care for it. Chemistry deals with the composition of substances and their properties. The study of chemistry leads students to learn about the materials that make up the world around us and how materials can change and be changed. Physics is the science of matter and energy and how they interact. The study of physics lets students learn about forces, energy and how things work.
It is to this end that Peter Lamuren Foundation is established to give support to deserving students and schools to advance the teaching and learning of Mathematics and the sciences in our nation. We are convinced that Mathematics and the sciences hold the key to the nation's technological advancement, societal development and our sustainable growth.
